We own the early evening.

Amsterdam has thousands of bars with a terrace. Almost none of them are worth your one good hour between work and dinner. Aperitivo Now exists because "comprehensive" is the wrong promise for aperitivo hour: nobody wants a list of 800 options at 17:15 on a Friday.

So we picked about fifty. Canalside terraces, hidden courtyards, rooftops, brown cafes, floating docks. Every one earned its spot, and every one gets an honest, opinionated verdict, not a star rating pretending to be objective.

How the live score works

Each place on the map has its own peak window: the hour or two it's genuinely at its best, based on sun, crowd, and character, not a generic 5 to 7 slot. Check the map at any moment and you'll see one of three calls: go now, good later today, or not today. No numeric score, because "78 out of 100" has never told anyone whether to leave the office yet.

What this isn't

There are no accounts, no star ratings from strangers, and no booking fees. We don't take submissions from venues wanting in. The list is curated by us, updated by us, and stays that way on purpose. If a place stops earning its spot, it comes off the map.

One city, done properly, beats ten cities done at a glance. Amsterdam is the whole project for now.

Who's curating

Aperitivo Now is written and run by a small team split between drinks and the internet: a beverage founder who has spent enough evenings testing spritz lists to have real opinions about them, and a marketing lead who insists those opinions actually get read.

The criteria are simple, and we don't bend them: a genuine early-evening window, a terrace or room that earns a special trip, and a drink list that isn't an afterthought. If a place slips on any of those, it comes off the map, no matter how well-known it is.
